Time to give back?
For all product leaders who find it hard to know how when they can give back when they have the time and the energy
“I want to give back but I don’t know how?”
I have so many conversations with product leaders who are keen to give back to the product community but they are not sure how to do it. So I’ve made it a focus for me to create new and promote existing platforms that make it easier and I am always open to any others I can sponsor or support.
Here are a few ways I can help you give back.
How to give back as a one off.
If you have the time please volunteer to be a CV Reviewer through the recently launched CV Clinic - There are so many great product people currently on the market looking for jobs and so often through no fault of their own they will lack the ability or confidence needed in this particularly tricky market. CVs now more than ever need to showcase their individual strengths and abilities - so many CVs I review are incredibly generic full of the same profile words and experiences just listing out their JD and not focusing on impact or outcomes - getting a fresh pair of eyes from a seasoned product leader/hiring manager is going to set them up for success and give them the confidence they need - If you know how to sell yourself on paper, how to position your product strengths, how to showcase your impact in past roles you can go into any process with more confidence IMHO....
Want to support female product leaders of tomorrow?
Either as a female product leader or an ally the Female Product Lead community was created for you to be a part of providing a safe and nurturing place for aspiring product leaders, whilst the title of our community presents as binary, we endeavour to break down some of these constructs. Our aim is instead to recognise the challenges that many face in the tech world that has historically been and is often still is systemically male-dominated
Being a part of the Female Product Lead as a thought leader means you can give back whenever you want either by being available to provide ‘ad hoc’ mentoring for those looking for help with a day to day challenge, ongoing mentoring through our mentorship program or getting involved in one of our ‘innovative’ speed mentoring events that we do both in person and coming this Month our first virtual event.
